About Us

Murray and I, Victoria, opened the Mornington Rose Guest House as our retirement project. Now, fifteen years later, we are still excited to meet so many great people and interesting guests, and are still having lots of fun!!

Murray is a former Labour Relations and Human Resources Professional who worked for a large corporation. He is our resident baker, making delectable scones, bread, and a variety of cookies for our guests to enjoy.

In his spare time he makes wood, acrylic, and gemstone pens and other small turned items on his lathe in his workshop. There are a few examples of his creations in our tiny Gift Shop on the main floor.

I am a former Elementary School Teacher who is now chef de cuisine. Using local meats, produce, and vegetables and herbs from our kitchen garden, I make interesting and varied charcuterie dinners, Afternoon Tea and delectable snacks for our guests.

When not cooking in my kitchen with my oven, I fuse glass in my kilns, or melt it using a propane/oxygen torch. I love playing with heat, fire, and molten glass in my studio across the parking lot.
